A quick update, and welcome to the new site!

The last time I managed to sit and blog was over a year ago – my reflective piece on not returning to the classroom in September 2020. Over a year on, and I’m still not back in the classroom, but I’ve been keeping busy!

The majority of my time is taken up as a stay-at-home parent to my two kids. My daughter is now 4 (how did that happen?!) and my son will be 2 in January. We’re also in the middle of an unintentional house renovation – you know the thing when you do one job and uncover three more – that’s us at the moment.

I have, however, been keeping a toe dipped in the waters of maths education. Since April this year, I’ve been freelancing for Third Space Learning, writing blog posts and content for the secondary maths section of their site. It’s a project I’ve really enjoyed working on – they’re producing webpages with step-by-step guides for each Maths GCSE topic, with examples and exam questions to attempt, and accompanying worksheets. Here’s an example page covering completing the square – clearly mine, it’s got algebra tiles all over it!

If you’re interested to read what I’ve been blogging about, my author page is here. The Foundation GCSE analysis one was really interesting to research and write; there’s a Higher one in the pipeline.

The final off-and-on (honestly, more off) project I’ve had over the last eighteen months is migrating this site over to WordPress from my original one with Weebly. I felt like I’d outgrown their limitations, but migrating all my blog posts was pretty hard work! My eventual intention is to transfer most of the content here, take that one down and to continue to develop this one, but we’ll see how that goes.

For now, welcome to the new site!
